Screen on my laptop is broke?

ok i have an hp laptop about a year ago the screen got broke, like i can't see anything on it. is there any way i can get the screen replaced without erasing everything on the laptop? I didn't back it up, i didn't expect the screen to break and hp will erase everything when they do it. I have some very irreplaceable stuff on there can someone please let me know?
